Dunkeld Perthshire and Birnam Information
The town of Dunkeld Perthshire and the adjacent town of Birnam are little gems. Nestling beneath thickly-wooded hills, its Cathedral and beautifully restored 17th Century buildings have an air of timeless tranquility. The town is peaceful in the evenings, with the occasional summer concerts in the Cathedral and folk music - but it is easy to reach the theatres and other entertainments in the larger towns of Perth and Pitlochry. On the opposite bank of the River Tay lies Birnam, a Victorian village with good accommodation and plentiful walks nearby. This is an ideal centre for lovers of history and the great outdoors.
