Visit Pitlochry

To visit Pitlochry, this picturesque Victorian highland town, is to see all the different areas of Scotland at the same time.It is one the main tourist centres in Perthshire. The others being at Perth, Crieff, Aberfeldy and Blairgowrie.

The town nestles in the heart of Scotland, amidst spectacular landscapes of ancient pine and fresh mountain rivers. It's an ideal place to unwind, spot wildlife and enjoy a well earned break, with plenty to do, both outdoors and in - whatever the weather.

Nearby are castles, distilleries, golf, fishing and with good retail therapy available, it has something for everyone.

Places of Interest

• Edradour Distillery
  It claims to be the smallest distillery in Scotland. Take the A924 Braemar/Blairgowrie road out of Pitlochry through the village of Moulin. You might be tempted to take a tour and a wee dram - or so!

• Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
  'Scotland's theatre in the hills', lies on the banks of the River Tummel and is internationally renowned for its fine repertoire of drama and comedy. It was first opened in the 1951 and consisted merely of two large tents. The tents were replaced in 1953 by a semi-permanent(now the curling rink). In 1979 this was replaced the present structure. The season runs from May to October each year and instead of presenting a run of six plays consecutively, a different play is performed on each night of the week.

• Pitlochry Dam and Fish Ladder.
  It's worth taking the short walk down to the hydro electric dam where you can look down into the turbine hall then cross to the west side and enter the fish ladder viewing room where you may see some specimen fish ascending the ladder to the uppet reaches of the river which is now the Tummel.

• Pitlochry Children`s Amusement Park.
  This is a when you visit Pitlochry for all the family, young and old.

  The park has a great variety of rides and games including Pirate Ship, Cups & Saucers, Magic Roundabout, Bumper Cars, Boats & Orbiter Shuttles, Water Blasters, Kiddie Track Ride, Family Amusement Arcade, Carousel Snack Bar and much much more!

  The park is open daily, from mid march to the end of the October holidays. Admission is free.
